Tammy Joy Breland

September 24, 1960November 22, 2019

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Tammy passed peacefully on November 22, 2019 in her home, surrounded by those who cherished her.

Tammy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 24, 1960 which is where she married the love of her life on June 27, 1981. Tammy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 38 years, Denis Breland; daughters Tiffany Breland and Twyla (Brett) Janes; and granddaughter Liv. Also left to mourn her passing are her Mother Muriel (Sholdice) Stiles; brother Trevor Stiles; sister-in-law Rose Ringham-Stiles; and niece Laura Stiles. Tammy was predeceased by her father Kenneth McRae Stiles who her family knows greeted her in Heaven.

The love of Tammy's life was her husband, Denis. The couple began dating in their teen years, married soon after and remained deeply devoted to one another until her passing. As Tammy battled her illness, Denis was her constant support and strength, anyone who witnessed his deep devotion was touched by his undying love for her.

Tammy was a loving and dedicated mother to her 2 daughters, providing constant support through all of their activities, hobbies, education and career goals. Her young granddaughter, Liv was the light of her life.

Tammy left her family and friends with a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished. Her devotion to her family, kind spirit, joyful sense of humor and determination touched everyone that was fortunate enough to meet her.

Tammy worked at the Health Sciences Centre in the Operating Room for 24 years, Tammy fondly remembered her time there and this is where she first met her dear friend, Debbie Stasiuk.

Tammy’s passion was playing in the Heather Belle Ladies Pipe Band with her lifelong friend, Pamela McKenzie. Her family heard many stories of the time spent with the band from traveling to Scotland to times spent at home with her band mates that she remembered so fondly. The family would like extend heartfelt thanks to our friends and Tammy’s care provider, Monica for their support and thoughtfulness throughout her lengthy and bravely fought battle.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, Tammy would have requested donations to a cause dear to her heart, The Winnipeg Humane Society.

Sharon and I were fortunate to get to know Tammy & Denis during our many years of living in the same neighbourhood in Fort Garry. Tammy was always a joy to be with and that never changed despite all of the struggles she was undergoing in her latter years. Our deepest condolences to Denis, Tiffany, Twyla and the entire family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I often think of when I stayed with my uncle Mac, aunt Muriel and cousins Tammy and Trevor. It was a great time. Mary and I are so glad we got to see Tammy in September. Condolences to Dennis and all the family.
