Mr. Thau Phen Yap

Sadly missed by beloved wife of 68 years Siew Jin Yap; son Freddy Shin Khen Yap, daughter-in-law Oi Yoon Lam, daughter Cindy Yap-Wong, son-in-law Dennis Wong; granddaughters Karen Yap, Kathleen Yap, Kimberley Yap; grandsons Wesley Wei Cheng Yap, Timothy Wong, Christopher Wong; sisters Bit Tshin Yap and Betty Pit Yun Kong and many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand nieces in Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Vancouver and Edmonton and close relatives and friends he cherished around the world.

He was born August 26, 1929 in Sandakan, Malaysia the second of 8 children. He was a devoted Christian from an early age and involved in church life at Basel Christian Church in Likas, Sabah, Malaysia. Dad and Mum married on April 21, 1951, had 2 children and moved to Seria, Brunei to work for Brunei Shell company until he retired in 1985. He attended Bethel Chapel in Seria for many years until immigrating to Winnipeg, Canada. Our family started attending Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church and Dad and Mum were active members of the Mandarin congregation for many years. He always had his Chinese Bible on his desk faithfully studying and upholding his family in prayer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00 am at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
