In the early morning of January 8, 2013, Vera Pucci (Caputo), born June 25th, 1926 of Winnipeg Manitoba, passed peacefully at her home at the Simkin Center. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter Barbara Skjerpen, husband Allan, her loving son Ernest Pucci and his wife Elizabeth. All of whom were joined by the heart and sprit of Vera’s late husband, Victor Pucci.
Her precious grandson Anthony of Calgary, step-granddaughter Darcie, husband Morten and step great-grandson Max of Oslo, Norway will lovingly remember Vera. Two half-sisters Mary Miller and Rose Lovallo along with many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Vera was born at home on McGee Street in Winnipeg and went to General Wolf School. She met the love of her life Victor and was engaged for 7 years. In 1950 they were married and proceeded to have their two children. Vera worked at Bowman Brothers and Hignell Printing in their bookbindery facility for a total of 40 years until she retired at the age of 65. Vera loved her Blue Bombers, Winnipeg Jets and all sports of every kind. Vera and Vic enjoyed travelling to Italy, France, Hawaii, Barbados, and of course the numerous trips to Las Vegas.
Vera firmly believed that she needed to be a strong backbone of support for both her children and her husband. She surpassed any scale of expectation of her generation by proudly providing the cleanest of houses, divinest of culinary exuberance and, bar none; an unbridled optimism that inspired every person she met on her path in life.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0E1. Donations can be made to Holy Rosary Parish in her loving memory.
Flowers are gratefully declined, as the pedals would make a mess on her carpet
