Mr. Willi Mintel

It is with sadness that we announce his passing on July 23, 2022 at the Charleswood Care Center of Pancreatic Cancer. Willi was predeceased by the love of his life Lisa, son George, grandson Rene, second wife Marianne, parents Heinrich and Matilda Mintel and many siblings (spouses).

Willi was born on March 18, 1926, in Nordhastadt, Germany. He grew up and married the love of his life Lisa. Together they raised their son George in Germany until he was 15 years of age. Willi and his family immigrated to Canada in the early 1960’s. While living in Ontario, George met his forever love Evelyn. Shortly after their marriage, Willi took the four of them back to Germany for an extended stay so the family could meet Evelyn. During this stay Willi’s grandson Rene was born. When Rene was 1 year old Willi, Lisa, George, Evelyn and Rene returned to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Willi found a job as a Mechanical Engineer at MTS which he retired from 40 years later. Willi had a great love of the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and backyard BBQ’s with family and friends.

Willi was our beloved friend and Opa. He will live on in our hearts.
