(NÉE TÉTRAULT)
19 JUIN 1921 – 9 MAI 2020
Mom left us peacefully May 9th 2020 at Actionmarguerite St-Boniface Nursing Centre, at the age of 98.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gérard in 1995, her parents François-Xavier Tétrault and Marie-Thérèse Mouflier. Coming from a large loving family, she is predeceased by her half-sister Cécilia, her sister Gratia, and her brothers Laurent, Lionel and Marcel. She is also survived by Ghislaine, Gabriel, Norbert (Laurette) and Roger.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three sons René, Jean-Pierre (Lise) and Gilbert (Susan); her grand-children Joël (Sylvie), Riel and Dominique (Eric); Danièle and Claire, along with three great-grandchildren Ariel, Mika and Zoé.
Yvette made her career as a bilingual secretary at the National Bank in St-Pierre-Jolys, her birthplace, then at the Montreal Head Office as the president’s secretary, then at the Cooperative Credit Society in Winnipeg. After her marriage, she worked part-time for lawyers and judges, including Chief Justice Monin, as well as performing volunteer services with a variety of organizations.
Mom took care of the accounting for her husband Gérard at the Hub Service garage in St Boniface from 1956 to 1988. However, her biggest achievement was the foundation of the St Boniface chapter of Faith and Light (Jean Vanier) in 1983 which she continued to be actively involved in the organization until the end.
She was an avid sports fan of the Blue Bombers and Jets but it is was nonetheless by her family’s side that Yvette found her greatest joy; she was a source of love, generosity, patience, and “joie de vivre” amidst all obstacles.
Many thanks to the employees at Despins Residence for the excellent care Yvette received during her final years.
The family will be having a private burial service at Green Acres, Thursday May 21, whereas a memorial mass will be announced at a later date.
