

Alma Miller Porter, 84, passed away peacefully July 14, 2011. She owned Porter’s interiors and gift Shop for many years. Mrs. Porter was born October 13, 1926 in Trap, NC (Bertie County) to Duncan Winston and Essie E. Miller who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of sixty two years Alfred Theodore Porter Sr.; five sisters Margaret Butler, Ruth Miller, Ruby Whedbee, Alice Drane, Dot Davenport; five brothers Clyde, Donnis, Louis, Charles, and Sidney Earl Miller.
Surviving family includes three children Brenda (Doug) Sprinkle, Ted (Camilla) Porter, and Ginger (Ben) Davis; five grandchildren Tom (Nora) Sprinkle, Allen (Monica) Sprinkle, Allison (Brad) Thompson, Alfred (Kyleigh) Porter, Amanda (Chris) Hughes; and twelve great grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Matthew, Christopher Sprinkle, Taylor, Erik Sprinkle, David, Dalton, Sara Beth Thompson, Benaiah Porter, Addie Mae, Cara Hughes. She had numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews that meant so much to her in life. A special thank you goes to our extended family Donise Davis and Stella Shepard.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Alma Miller Porter will be conducted on Saturday, July 16, 2011 2:00 PM at the Vogler Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel, a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem (336-722-6106). Christa Warise and Dr. Winford Hendrix will officiate and burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
The Family wishes to thank Heritage Woods and staff for giving her a comfortable home for the last four years and the staff of Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center and Hospice of Winston-Salem. In addition, the family also thanks Linda Brannon, Lori Roberts, Brenda Thompson, Jane Harris, and Mickey Sprinkle for giving her their loving care.
