

Barbara Katharine Willox, 90, died peacefully in her sleep on September 19, 2010. Mrs. Willox was born June 13, 1920 to Carl and Margaret Magee. She met her late husband Pete while attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. They were married in 1940 and lived in Saginaw, Michigan for many years before moving to North Carolina.
Barbara was very active in Saginaw’s Pit and Balcony Community Theatre. She enjoyed reading and volunteered with “Reading for the Blind” through her sorority, Delta Gamma.
Mrs. Willox was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Pete, and daughter Carol. She is survived by her son Gary (Kathy) Willox of Huntersville, NC; daughters Chris (Tom) Cutler of DeWitt, MI and Gale Newport of Winston-Salem, NC; nine grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and Miss Kitty, her constant companion.
On June 12th Barbara enjoyed a birthday party hosted by her family. It was a time of sharing memories, laughter, and tears, as everyone came together to honor her ninety years of life.
A Memorial Funeral Service, Celebrating her Life, will be conducted for Barbara at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 22nd, at Heritage Woods Senior Living Community, (336-768-2011) 3812 Forrestgate Drive, Winston-Salem. The family will hold a private burial in Michigan at a later date.
