

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha Perdue Griffin, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on April 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bertha was born on December 19, 1942, in the heart of Winston Salem, North Carolina, to the late Julius and Margie Perdue. She was a beacon of joy and strength to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her 83 years, Bertha touched many lives with her warm spirit and generous nature. She was renowned not just for her culinary skills, which were unparalleled in their ability to bring people together, but also for her inviting smile and the big hugs that provided comfort and warmth to countless hearts. Her kitchen was a haven for family and friends, and her recipes, filled with love, continue to be shared as treasured memories.
Bertha is survived by her sons, Richard and Kent, along with Kent's wife, Leanda, who were her pride and joy. Her legacy continues through her grandson, Joseph, and his wife, Victoria, who brought her immense happiness. Bertha's brother, Jules, along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a wide circle of friends, will forever cherish her memory and the times shared together.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Julius and Margie, her brothers David and James, and her sisters Beth and Doris (Gaynell), with whom she is now reunited.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Forsyth Medical Center and for their dedicated support and care during Bertha's illness. Their kindness brought comfort to both Bertha and her family in the most challenging times.
In accordance with Bertha's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held at a later date to honor her life and legacy. While the service is private, the family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support from all those who knew and loved Bertha.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember the love she so freely gave, the laughter she inspired, and the warmth she brought into our lives. Bertha Perdue Griffin will forever be in our hearts, her spirit living on in the cherished memories we hold dear.
