With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Betsy Ruth Vera, a beloved daughter, mother, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who knew her forever.
Betsy was a woman whose heart was always centered on family. Her favorite saying, “Family Is Everything,” was more than just a quote; it was a reflection of the way she lived her life. She believed in the importance of staying connected, bringing loved ones together, and making sure no one ever felt forgotten or alone. She had a special way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and valued.
Betsy was also a Christian, and her faith was an important part of who she was. As we remember her life, we find comfort in the hope and promises of God, trusting that she is now at peace in His loving presence. May her faith, the love she shared, and the memories she leaves behind continue to bring strength and comfort to all who loved her.
Above all else, Betsy's greatest joy in life was being a mother. Her three beloved children, Michael Anthony, Amare Christopher, and Alijah, were the center of her world and the greatest blessings of her life. Being their mom was her proudest role, her deepest love, and the purpose that filled her heart. Every moment spent with her children was precious to her, and the love she had for them was immeasurable.
Betsy also cherished the family who helped shape her life. She leaves behind her loving mother, Elbia, and her beloved grandmother, Luisa, along with her aunts (and their husbands), Maria (Francisco), Myriam, Jeanette (Freddy), Gizeth (James), and Nohemy (Adalberto); her uncles Martin and Miguel; and her cousins Paulette, Zebrina, Leilani, Amanda, Aiko, Grissel, Jean Carlos, Sean Paul, Joshua, Jonathan, and Francisco Jr. Each of them holds a special place in her story, and each will carry their own treasured memories of her laughter, kindness, and love.
To know Betsy was to know someone who valued connection and friendship. She believed that family was not only about blood, but also about the bonds we create, the people we stand beside, and the love we choose to give. Her spirit reflected the beautiful sentiment, “You Found a Friend in Me.” She wanted the people around her to know they could count on her, that they mattered, and that they always had someone who cared.
Betsy had a gift for bringing people together, creating moments that became memories, and reminding those around her what truly matters in life. As we remember Betsy, may we honor her by holding our families closer, reaching out to one another, choosing kindness, and making time for the people we love. May we continue to live by the words she held so close to her heart: “Family Is Everything.”
Family and friends are invited to honor Betsy’s life on Saturday, October 24, 2026. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service. All services will take place at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park, located at: 3815 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
