

Betty Brooks Wooten, 84, formerly of Winston-Salem passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Forsyth County to Carl Granville and Hattie Ketner Brooks.
She was a member and attended Bethabara Moravian Church before a period of declining health.
Mrs. Wooten married the love of her life, Calvin Reece Wooten, on November 17, 1950 in Winston-Salem.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wooten was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Reece Wooten, who was North Carolina’s first lung transplant recipient at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine; daughter, Sandra Gail Wooten; sisters, Minnie Doss and Louise Charles; brothers, Dan, Tom, Robert, and Bill Brooks.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Edward Reece Wooten; brothers, Lee, Gene, and Jim Brooks; grandchildren, Harrison Reece Wooten, Edward Montgomery Wooten, and Mason Bryce Wooten; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Bethabara Moravian Church with the Reverend Tripp May officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2011, 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Bethabara Moravian Church Graveyard God’s Acre.
