Charles Anderson "Andy" Bailey Jr.

Charles Anderson “Andy” Bailey, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home in Winston Salem, NC. He was born May 19, 1934 in Winston Salem to Charles Bailey Sr and Ella Spainhour Bailey of Lewisville.

Andy graduated from Reynolds High School in 1952 and attended The University of Miami until he joined the Army in 1955 where he served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1956. He returned to Winston Salem to operate the family business, CA Bailey & Son, a successful building and real estate company that built many homes, businesses and apartments throughout the region. He was President of the NC Home Builders Association and served on the Board of Directors for Forsyth Technical Community College. Andy was a licensed pilot and owned several airplanes which he flew regularly. He enjoyed cruising on his yacht with Frankie on the intracoastal waterway and to the Bahamas, and owned several homes on the coast of North Carolina and in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Frankie Everhart Bailey, a daughter, Sandra Bottenus of Mocksville and three step children, Robert Wheeler of Hickory, NC, Joe Wheeler and wife Suzanne of Raleigh NC and Tricia Spencer and husband Robert of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Kelsey Dolan and husband Eddy of Winston Salem, Fayre Stevens of Kernersville, and four step-grandchildren: Larry Wheeler of Raleigh, Ryan Spencer of Columbia Falls, MT, Megan Spencer of Greensboro and Bailey Wheeler of Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bailey Sr, mother Ella Spainhour Bailey and brother Joe Bailey.

A private graveside service will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park where he will be interred.

Memorials can be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC.
