She was born on January 22, 1927 in Staten Island, NY to the late Walter and Elfreda Lyngaas. She moved from Staten Island to Lewisburg, PA to attend college at Bucknell University. Doris worked as a claims manager for an insurance company in Lynchburg, VA. She retired in 1992. She later moved to Winston-Salem to the Salemtowne Retirement Community. Doris adored her Salemtowne family and she always spoke of and cherished her many friendships there.
Doris enjoyed skiing, bicycling, and taking family vacations to the beach. She was an avid reader, loved classical music and dance, and all preforming arts. Doris loved traveling and traveled extensively to many places around the world.
She dearly loved her family and was always supportive in attendance of family events. She especially loved holding the grand babies and later, the great-grand babies.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Roland Caldwell; son, Donald Caldwell; and two grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Perry) Call and Janet Hodges, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Salemtowne in the Saal Chapel on Friday, March 23rd at 11am.
