Born in Asheboro, Randolph County, NC on March 15,1943, she was the daughter of the late Annie Mae Starcher and Stafford L Starcher.
Gayle was in the insurance industry her entire career, as an independent insurance agent. She began her career in Virginia Beach, VA at Kellum and Easton and others, she went on to partner an insurance agency and later opened her own agency, Drummond Insurance and worked for others.
She retired to the Outer Banks of NC but then her passion for her customers drove her to restart another agency, Ocean Insurance. Gayle was very accomplished in her craft and loved servicing her clients in the OBX, who later became dear friends.
Gayle was a member of Bethany Church of Wanchese and was involved in the choir and enjoyed playing the organ for her church. Gayle, along with her husband was an avid NASCAR fan and loved attending races. She loved to travel and cruises were a favorite. She loved shopping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Drummond Lavrinc (Jay); son, Daniel Maxwell Drummond, grandson, Christopher Maxwell Lecznar (Kristi), sister Shirley Poole Beane, brother Stafford L. Starcher, Jr. (Linda); several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Douglas Maxwell Drummond, a grandchild, Alex Drummond Lecznar and a sister Pamela Starcher.
A graveside service for Gayle will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11am at Forsyth Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethany Church of Wanchese.
