Hilda was born in Statesville, North Carolina on March 18, 1930, to the late Richard and Jettie Hayes. She became a bookkeeper at the A&P where she worked for 12 years before beginning her 20-year career with Wachovia as a financial clerk.
In her free time, Hilda loved to golf and play Bridge. She excelled at Bridge, especially Duplicate Bridge. Hilda traveled the country playing and participated in the North American Bridge Championships ranking as a Gold Life Master.
Hilda dedicated her life to God. She was a dedicated member at Pfafftown Baptist Church. She loved bible study, whether it was at church or alone in her quiet time. Her love in Christ shown through her upbeat and optimistic disposition.
Hilda was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, caring mother, and doting grandmother. She went above and beyond taking care of her grandchildren. Whether it was watching them or taking them to an after-school activity, she was always ready to pitch in.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tuttle; son, William “Mike” Green, and sister, Sue Thompson. She leaves behind her daughter, Terri (Terry) Stanley; step daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Venable and Lynne (Kevin) Tarleton; grandchildren, Robbie Green, Jeff Green, Jody Green, Katie Landreth, Molly Nester, Mitchell Cheek, Aleksandra Wallen, and Kristian Finneman; great grandchildren, Christian Green, John Michael Landreth, Vivianne Wallen, and Lillian Wallen; siblings, Bonnie Louise Bonaro and Richard M. Hayes; and numerous other family members and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Saturday, August 8th from 11am to 1pm with a Moment of Remembrance with Pastor John Brown at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Hilda’s honor to Trellis Supportive Care or Pfafftown Baptist Church.
