Winston-Salem-Mrs. Jacqueline Stutts Walton, 91, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Services will be Tuesday, December 4 at 2 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park at the pavilion with Dr. Jeremy Amick officiating.
Mrs. Walton was born in Hillsborough, NC to the late Mervin Edison and Vivian Touchstone Stutts. She was one of seven children. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her family even at a young age prompted her to leave school to help her family at home. She met and married Howard Thomas Walton in 1942. They shared sixty-two wonderful years together until his death. She attended First Assembly and Reynolda Presbyterian Churches.
She will be remembered affectionately as “Mazee” to her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her love of cooking brought the family together every Sunday for dinner at her home. She also loved to play bingo, painting, gardening, quilting and sewing. In her younger years she and Howard played bridge and golfed together. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and always encouraged them with optimism and a belief that they could do anything they set their mind to. She had a curiosity for the world and took family trips to Europe and Canada. Caring for her family was foremost in her life. She will be remembered as a faithful friend with a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Patricia Lee (Ernie) Copple of Oak Island, J. Kay (Tom) Gordon of Jamestown and Susan Madden of Mocksville; sisters, Dorothy Rascoe and Vivian Stanfield; grandchildren, Brian (Pam) Cofer, Amy Friddle, Jeremy Senkus, Jeffrey (Marla) Senkus, and Jessica Richards; and great grandchildren, Devon Johnson, Hannah, Logan and Peyton Friddle, Tyler Richards, Ava Hodges, Zoey Senkus and Benjamin Richardson. In addition to her spouse she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christi Everhart; brothers, Barney, Charles, Berk, and Robert Stutts.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. On-line condolences may be made to www.frankvoglerandsons.com
