Jackie was born in Guilford County on November 20, 1942 to the late Clifford Hinshaw Peace and Frances Loftin Peace. She attended Duke University where she earned her degree in Divinity. Jackie then went to High Point University to earn her degree in Education. She was an avid reader and had a deep love of learning. The love drove her to attend High Point University later in her life to receive yet another degree, this time in accounting.
She worked at RJR for over 25 years. After retirement, she went to work as the office manager at Mt Tabor United Methodist Church. After her cancer diagnosis, Jackie joined the YMCA where she found such joy in Silver Sneakers and Life Strong. In her spare time when she wasn’t reading, Jackie loved doing puzzles and always looked forward to pulling for Duke during basketball season.
She was so bubbly and caring. Jackie would do anything should could to help those around her. Anyone who knew her was truly blessed to have her in their life.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Settle; daughter, Mary Jacquelyn Compton; and sister, June Gray Peace. She leaves behind her daughter, Suzanne (John) Collins; grandchildren, Cody McTheny, John David Hotchkiss, and Aaron Compton; sister, Frances “Frankie” (Phil) Stith; and many other loved ones.
A graveside service was held on September 6, 2023 at 11am at Forsyth Memorial Park.
