

Jeanne Gregg Hudgins, of Mocksville, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at the age of 88 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by those she loved. Jeanne and her husband Jim had been a resident of Mocksville, NC for 15 years having lived previously for in Pfafftown, NC for almost 30 years. Prior to that she and her family lived in Atlanta, GA; Buffalo Grove, IL; Parsippany, NJ and throughout the state of North Carolina. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, William L. and Bessie W. Gregg; her son Jeffrey G. Hudgins, and her siblings William L. Gregg, Jr., Mary Gregg Freas, Joyce Gregg Rouse, Ruth Gregg Fitzwater, Dr. Roger A. Gregg, Betty Gregg Malley, Thad M. Gregg, and Stewart W. Gregg. She is survived by her husband James H. Hudgins Sr., sons James H. Hudgins Jr. and wife Paige A. Hudgins, of Dunwoody, GA, Jerry C. Hudgins and wife Renee H. Hudgins, of Huntersville, NC, daughter Jennifer H. Burnett of Mocksville, NC; sisters Arminta Gregg Adams (Larry) of Coral Gables, FL, and Shirley Gregg Barlowe (Ken) of Lenoir, NC; and her much loved grandchildren James (Jake) H. Hudgins III (Kristen), William J. Hudgins, Josh M. Hudgins, Matthew C. Hudgins, Nicholas G. Hudgins, Rachel K. Quinn, and Megan R. Quinn, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved tremendously.
Jeanne was a native of Lenoir, NC, born on April 15, 1933. After graduating Lenoir High School, Jeanne attended Lenoir Rhyne University. She retired from Wachovia/Wells Fargo after 25 years of service. In addition to being a homemaker with four children, she and her husband Jim also owned and operated Mayberry’s Restaurant in Old Salem, NC as well as The Pier Restaurant in Winston Salem, NC. Jeanne had been an active member of Old Town Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a dedicated member of her Sunday School Class. What Jeanne loved most was time together with her family and friends, her church, preparing meals, the Christmas holidays and countless hours completing jigsaw puzzles. She was a woman of extraordinary grace and kindness with a commitment to her faith that brought her much comfort as her health declined. She left us a legacy of joy and compassion that will be in our hearts forever. A graveside service will be Saturday at 12:30pm at Forsyth Memorial Park.
