

He was born on March 11, 1941 to Roy and Arlene Miller. He attended Mineral Springs High School where he played baseball. In his youth he enjoyed swimming with his brothers and sister and playing with his hunting dogs and listening to 1950’s music and driving his red GTO.
Jerry began his career at Journal Sentinel Winston-Salem, NC from age 18 to 26 years old and then continued his career at the Birmingham News Post Herald, Birmingham, AL from age 26 to age 82 years, for 56 years. And for a total of 64 years of dedicated service to the newspaper industry.
He loved his wife, Judy Faye Fansler Miller of 55 years. His grandson, Ezra Fitzgerald Chris Raper, his son and daughter, Christopher Blake Miller and Donna Kaye Miller Raper. He also loved cars and was an avid music lover. He loved animals. He also loved drawing, woodworking and weightlifting.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Faye Fansler Miller; his son, Christopher Blake Miller; his parents, Roy and Arlene Miller. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Eugene Miller.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Kaye Miller Raper and her husband, Thomas “Jim” James Raper; grandson Ezra Fitzgerald Chris Raper; his sisters, Peggy Wood and Susan Darsey; his brother, Larry Miller; he also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Monday, May 26th from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
A second viewing will be held at Vogler's Funeral Home and Cremations on Tuesday, June 3rd from 1:00 p.m until 2:00 p.m. The graveside service will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
