Mark Richard Wolberg Dec. 3, 1953 - June 11, 2014 Mark Richard Wolberg, 60, of Winston-Salem passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Thomasville Hospital, of to be identified causes. He was born and raised in Winston-Salem to Dorothy and Lewis Wolberg, who preceded him in death. Mark recently celebrated 25 years of marriage to Francine Braun Wolberg, and together they had two beautiful daughters, Andrea Braun Wolberg (23) and Carly Braun Wolberg (21). They were the light of his life and he was infinitely proud of both girls and their achievements and heart. Mark's daughters will celebrate Father's Day this Sunday with much love and respect for their dad and his entire life, including his last years' battle with the dreadful disease called Alzheimer's. Mark's third "girl" was his beloved Goldendoodle, Maggie, who, along with the rest of his family, is lost and confused by his absence. Besides his loving wife and daughters, Mark is survived by his sister, Phyllis Parmet, of Los Alamitos, CA, and many family and friends who miss him dearly. Mark attended Reynolds High School, Class of 1972, and UNC Chapel Hill, where he became an avid and lifelong Tar Heels Basketball fan. Mark worked for the VA Outpatient Clinic for 33 years, retiring early after being diagnosed in 2012 with early-onset Alzheimer's. The past three-year journey has been filled with much sadness but many joys, including friendships and support from both old and new friends who lifted Mark along the path of this dreadful disease. Special thanks to the Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center, Counseling at Wake Forest Baptist, and the Alzheimer's Association, Western NC Chapter, for their loving care and support of both Mark and his family during difficult times. A private, at-sea memorial will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western NC Chapter.
