Winston-Salem-Mrs. Melva Jean Anderson, 83, passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on September 22, 2011 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2PM at Bethany Baptist Church with interment to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Natrona County, Wyoming on January 26, 1928 to the late Martin Franklin and Louella Mary Gibson Anderson. She married Herbert Daniel Anderson in 1946 and together they journeyed happily through life for sixty-four years. She was employed with AT&T as a manufacturing coordinator and retired after twenty-five years of service. One of the highlights of her career at AT&T was being on the first trans-Atlantic fiber optic phone call. After she and Herbert retired they enjoyed traveling together and she loved working in her yard and vegetable garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister to her family she cherished. She was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church for fifty years.
She is survived by her husband, son, Daniel E. (Rebecca) Anderson; daughters, Wanda A. (Smith) Bolejack and Deborah A. (Gary) Veit; sisters, Mary Souther, Norvella Hawks and Betty Lou Heath; brother, Darwin Franklin Anderson of Wilkesboro; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
