Robert H. Wager the 3rd came into the world on August 1st, 1947, with a personality strong enough to change his own name. Michael “Mike” Wager took on the world from that day forward. Charismatic and charming, Mike quickly made his place anywhere he went. He attended Columbia High School before graduating from the University of Miami and eventually settled into a lifelong 47-year career with The Robert H. Wager Company. His endearing personality made him a natural-born salesman and eventually President. He helped lead the 3rd generation of family ownership and reached heights that his grandfather and founder of Wager Company would have been so proud of. His care for others was bigger than life, and he always saw the best in people. He had a laugh and smile that was absolutely contagious. We remember fondly what an amazing storyteller he was and his generous heart that always wanted to help. He seemingly kept Green Polo Cologne and Haagen-Dazs in business single-handedly.
He was always a father first who would go to great lengths to make sure his children had everything they needed. Later in life, he was devoted to his wife, Leslie, and his grandchildren, who worshipped him. We are blessed with memories of him that bring us joy, laughter, and generosity.
His father, Robert H. Wager Jr., and his mother, June Wager, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Wager, and loving dog, Mabel. His children Stacy (Wager) Corby, Jay Corby, Michael Wager, Alie (Wiener) Wager, and grandchildren Lauren, Nick, Katie, Luke, and Dylan. Tammie (Wager) Maitland and family, Adam Wager and his sister Lynn (Wager) Powers and his nephews.
We are happy knowing he is finally at peace, and we know for sure he is surrounded by all the dogs he loved and who loved him even more.
