Sallie was born to the late Percy Gray Wall and Henrie Marshall Wall of Meadows community of Stokes County. She graduated salutatorian from Walnut Cove High School.
She worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield to help her put her husband through UNC Chapel Hill. When they moved to Winston-Salem, she worked at Hanes Hosiery for many years. Later, they owned an Antique Shop for over 15 years. If she wasn’t hunting a good antique deal with her husband then she could be found hunting a good retail deal with her sister, daughter, or grandchildren.
Sallie loved her family and was with them any time she had the chance. She was a caregiver like no other. Her entire life, she was always asking, “What can I do or get for you?” Everyone looked forward to her baking each Christmas. The mere mention of her grandchildren brought a smile like no other.
She was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spainhour was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Kenneth Spainhour; brothers, James Wall and Ken Wall; and sisters, Rebecca Wall Hedrick and Myrtle Wall Stone.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son, Gregory Alan Spainhour of Charlotte; daughter, Gina Spainhour Shore of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Riley Shore, Sullivan Shore; and Callie Spainhour, Zachary Spainhour and their mother, Cheryl Spainhour; sister, Lillian Wall Greer; and brothers, Gray (Louberta) Wall, Bud (Francis) Wall, and Ross (Pat) Wall; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 17th at 2pm at Northwest Baptist Church with Rev. Ellen Strickland and Rev. Brant Hoots officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 12:30pm on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Park following the service.
