Shirley England Wagner went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2012 after almost 2 years of battling cancer. She was born in Morganton, NC July 13, 1952 and is preceded in death by her father, Norman Watkins England and her mother Katherine Tuttle England. Shirley is survived by her husband of 32 years Richard F. Wagner Jr. of Pfafftown NC, a son, Richard Nathaniel Wagner and his wife, Jennifer Raby Wagner of Winston-Salem NC, and another son, Matthew England Wagner of Pfafftown NC. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Watkins England of Martinsville, Va., and her sister, Jane England Beam of Honey Brook, Pa.
Until her battle with cancer, Shirley was very involved with her church, Mt. Tabor United Methodist, and her family and friends. Shirley attended UNC Greensboro and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and taught for several years thereafter. She has a love and passion for helping others and will be missed by many.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. David Defeo and the staff at Salem Chest Specialists, and Dr. Franklin Chen and the staff associated with the Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Thank you for outstanding care and support throughout Shirley’s journey. Unending appreciation is also expressed to the staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their tender and compassionate care of our beloved Shirley.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home located at 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC. A memorial celebration of Shirley’s life will occur at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church located at 3543 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
