TÍ Mari Smith a fearless child of God messenger of the most-high transitioned into the next life on Thursday, June 23, 2022 ending the torment of pancreatic cancer. The illness was officially diagnosed May 10, 2020. She was preceded in the next chapter by her mother Janie, aunt Lillie Brown and “adapted” mother Ethel Butts Hayes.
TÍ is highly compassionate, most giving with radiant energy that affected many people through all walks of life. This life was born in Brooklyn, New York by the way of Nestor and Janie Martinez March 18, 1968. She would frequently visit relatives in California that initiated the bond with maternal aunts that now cover Bertha, Georgia, and Shirley Brown. TÍ would begin life lessons and a strong relationship with God while raised in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York. This was initiated with care by Janie and her Step father, she now covers Charles Mcduffie, sister Sharon, younger brother, Charles Jr “Chuckie”.
As a youth to adolescent. She attended St. John’s Preparatory School while dancing for Alvin Ailey Dance Theater of Harlem under the tutelage of Alvin Ailey and Judith Jamison. The Fashion Institute of Technology of New York.
She is blessed with the rhythmic gift of dance, creative writing, and creating works of art. TÍ Mari is gifted with a beautiful voice performed at numerous functions. She sang with the choir. On many occasions she was co-musical director and engineer for recorded projects. This Godly woman filled with love and energy was a Sunday school teacher for St. Peter's Church of Winston-Salem, N.C While studying for joy and internal fulfilment, she attributes reading the entire bible from "Genesis" to "Revelation" several times as one of her greatest accomplishments along with giving birth to her children. In 1994 TÍ Mari would give birth to Michael Denard Clinton Jr, 1998 Matthew Daniel Clinton, 2006 Helen Elizabeth Coger. That would become "Me and my three".
TÍ Mari Smith loved the lord. She was beyond faithful in her service. Her neighbors were anyone who needed help. TÍ was known to bring entire families into her home to create an atmosphere of love and unity. This mentorship touched multiple age groups with her discernment, wit, coupied with a hearty laugh.
Her covering duties will always cover family, friends, those who showed love and gave love. TÍ Mari Smith is survived by her "Everything" husband Nhy Smith.
A devoted mother that will continue to guide her children "Me and My three": Michael, Matthew, Helen; step-son Jabril, daughter Kija; grandchildren Natalie, Bella, Liners and Kash.
The essence of TÍ Mari will forever walk with her cousin Nature, her in-loves; sister Heavenly Mcduffie, mother Urmila, Chy, Janet Davidson, Thy, Marleatha Muhammad, Ghy Smith, nephews Prince Jaquay, Jerimiah Josiah Smith, Emmanuel, Jared, Josiah Mcduffie. Neices Kissiah, Keira Smith, Lanisha Tillery, Keira Gomes, Khyleah, Khanila Muhammad. Great nephew Jared Jr great niece Skylar.
Adapted nephews; Kenneth Rocker, Khalil, Jordan, Aaron Lewis, Johnny Oaks, John Stevens; Kiana, Slade-wife adopted nieces India Rogers, Kiana Slade; great nephew Jordan Nasir Slade, Ivan and Aden Rogers.
