

Mr. Crane was born on August 16, 1924, in Dixie, Ga, a son to the late Samuel Leon and Claire Beckwith Crane. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Bill was an active member of Burkhead United Methodist Church, serving on numerous committees and positions. He was a retired engineering manager with Hanes Hosiery after 20 plus years of service. Bill was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII as a platoon Sargent during D-Day +16, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In his spare time he enjoyed his stock market trades, playing bridge and his church life. He was a mechanical engineering graduate from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1950. Bill was an avid sports follower of everything Atlanta Braves and Ga Tech Yellow Jackets.
He is survived by his wife Gladys B. Crane, two sons; William “Will” B. Crane Jr. and his wife, Genia of Marietta, GA and Taylor Crane of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Allison and Shannon Crane of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held 2 PM, Friday, November 29th at Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, W/S with Dr. Suze Pillsbury-Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM, Friday at the church prior to the service.
