

Alice B. James, 96, of Winter Garden, FL, passed peacefully on July 4, 2023, surrounded by her family. Alice was born to Raymond and Ella Horn on March 27, 1927, in Philadelphia, PA. She worked as a telephone operator and factory worker and enjoyed countless hobbies, including genealogy, as well as crocheting, knitting, and sewing.
Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Jack James, and daughter Ellouise Hall, as well as her siblings, Ella, Harry, Anne, and Sam.
Alice married Jack on December 27, 1947, and they enjoyed traveling, thanks to his career with the Navy. After Jack retired from the Navy, they settled as a family in Christmas, FL.
Here, Jack and Alice played the roles of resident Santa and Mrs. Claus for over fifty years, bringing cheer to the community and helping countless children have a brighter holiday. Alice was also involved in a number of charities and organizations, including Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Nile, Girl Scouts of America, National Society Daughters of the Union, and The Order of the Eastern Star.
Alice was a lifelong Disney fan and enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World and going on Disney Cruises.
She is survived by her granddaughter Michelle Lyons and grandson-in-law, Michael Lyons, as well as her niece Veronica Prettyman and nephew Raymond Bidus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Winter Garden Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 10:00 am.
