Jodie was born in Newbern Alabama on December 22, 1941, to Harvey and Mamie Felts. She attended Lakeview High School in West Orange County before going on to obtain a BSN in nursing from the University of Miami in 1962. Then joining the staff at Florida Hospital as a registered nurse. Later in her career, Jodie would go on to get her master’s in nursing from Florida Southern and retiring in 2004 as a nurse case manager with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida so that she and her Husband, Ralph and their doted upon black cat, Buddy could spend their time between Winter Garden and their mountain home in Murphy, North Carolina.
Jodie is preceded in Death by her parents and her sister, Ethel Smith of Ocoee, Florida and her older Felts siblings Alvin, Thelma and Harvey Jr. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ralph Suggs, and 3 Daughters- Lisa (Greg) Bennett, Lauren (James IV) Flemister and Leslie (Leonard III) Meyers, all of Winter Garden. Her 11 Grandchildren: Heather (David), Jessica (Ryan), Cael (Tiffany), Trenton (Llainie), Logan, Christina (Rob), Noah and Leonard IV (Morgan), Dixie, James V “Quint” (Valerie), William “Billy” and 17 great grandchildren as well as many friends and her beloved Sunday School class at First Baptist of Winter Garden.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 15, 2026, at Baldwin Fairchild in Winter Garden at 428 E. Plant St. Visitation at 9am, service at 10am. Followed immediately by a graveside burial at Winter Garden Cemetery North.
