Harvey Gerald Hertzman, 82, of Ocoee, Florida passed away peacefully on July 29, 2021. Harvey was born on January 16, 1939 in the Bronx, New York to the late Mrs. Lillian Hertzman (Nee; Bachinovsky) and Mr. Irving Hertzman.
Harvey attended Fordham Preparatory where he participated in the debate club and Fordham College where he graduated with a Master's of Science Degree in Economics. During college years, he was a decorated debate champion. He also obtained a Postgraduate degree in Educational Administrative Leadership and Supervision from City College in New York, New York.
He later went on to work with the New York City Board of Education, teaching reading and working with at-risk children outreach programs at his alma mater, Herman Ridder Junior High School 98 in the Bronx. It was there that he served as an administrative assistant. He also worked for the Chancellor’s Office monitoring special education programs. He retired in 1996 and moved to Florida.
Harvey met and married the love of his life; Rosa Acosta-Hertzman on December 26, 1986. In Harvey’s younger years, he loved to play Paddleball, Baseball and Ping Pong. Later in life, he could be found in the kitchen cooking something wonderful while Jazz Music filled the air.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Rosa Acosta-Hertzman, his children, Neil Hertzman and Alan Hertzman, his daughters-in-law, Randi Hertzman and Moira Hertzman, his grandchildren, Alex, Jenna and Jack Hertzman.
Harvey is predeceased by his siblings, Selma Steinbach and Milton Hertzman.
Harvey will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
