John proudly served his country in the United States Army after being drafted during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, John spent much of his working life as a route driver for several dairies, eventually finishing his career with T.G. Lee Dairy.
John shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Ek. Together, they built a life centered around their family and watched it grow through three children, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
John knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. He loved fishing, trips to the casino, and playing bingo. Those who knew him well also knew he enjoyed his Dunkin’ coffee—especially when it was accompanied by an old-fashioned donut.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his daughter, LaShawn (Matt); his sons, John (Beff) and Robert (Anna); his grandchildren, Ashley (Donelly), Justin, David, Raven (Beau), Hannah, Dekoda, Ian, Rhett, Mason, Vika, and Amelia; and his great-grandchild, Lilium.
John leaves behind a family that spans generations and a lifetime of memories that will continue through each of them. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and all those who knew and loved him.
