Katherine Monticello Vaughn

Katherine Monticello Vaughn Oliver, age 83, was born on December 29, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked and then retired from Allen Christian Academy in Queens, New York. She was blessed to raise five children there and had a wonderful life where she cherished her many family and friends. Upon retirement, she moved to Apopka, Florida. She was a member of her family’s church New Foundation Christian Assembly of Tampa, Florida.

Katherine loved talking to family, shopping, sitting outdoors enjoying the sun rays, reading, listening to music, decorating and listening to church service. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend to all. She was a great cook and baker. Many children in the family and neighborhood called her “Ma” because she took them into her home to make sure they were safe and well fed. She was always picture ready first thing in the morning with her fresh makeup, jewelry and outfits which were picked out for a purpose. Her beautiful smile lit up every room she entered.

Katherine left this world in her home on July 11, 2022, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.

Katherine was proceeded in death by her husband Norman Vaughn; her Son Kevin Oliver; her parents Gus and Florence Oliver; her Brothers Gus, Nick, Dexter, Bill, Robert and Preston.

Katherine leaves behind her two daughters, Caren Dawkins and Patricia Nabritt; two Sons Norman Oliver and Darrell Vaughn; her Sisters Patricia Green-Rahman, Wanda Fulmore and LaFlorence Grant; several grandchildren Kevin Green Jr., Chantel Lathrop, Marcella Oliver, Shariff Washington, Karee Oliver, Amari Vaughn, Kahlil Vaughn and Deandra Nabritt; great grandchildren Kevin Green III, Kiana Green, Alayna Lathrop, Malia Lathrop, Jackson Lathrop, Kitty-Lee Oliver and Syuri Luscavage; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Katherine’s Celebration of Life Service is currently at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home in Winter Garden, Florida on July 23, 2022. Her resting place will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Queens, New York, with a date to be announced later.
