

Leonard Charles “Chuck” Johnson, 75 of Winter Garden, passed away July 9, 2022. He was born in Salina, KS on March 3, 1947. Chuck was raised in Pensacola, FL and graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School. He served in the Air Force 40th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron during the Vietnam War where he was a highly trained Special Tactic Pararescue Specialist. Chuck carried out combat search and rescue missions in the Sikorsky helicopters known as the “Jolly Green Giants”. After Vietnam, he was stationed in England, Spain, and Iceland.
After leaving the service, he attended Pensacola Junior College, University of Florida, and Limestone University graduating with a BS degree in Business Management. Chuck worked for Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC for 30 years and then retired to Florida where he worked for DisneyWorld for 10 years.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father Leonard Junior Johnson and Stepfather Dr. Samuel Clifford.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jan Johnson; daughter, Lindsey Johnson (Jose) Kennesaw, GA; son, Brad Johnson Winter Garden, FL; mother, Elaine Clifford Pensacola, FL; sister. Karole Ferguson (Cale) Pensacola, FL; two sisters-in-law, Palma Lee Stephens (Bill) and Shelley Marchese (Bill); brother-in-law, Joe Lamb; nephews, Adam and Ryan Marchese; and his three favorite cousins, Shirley, Soni, and Kathy.
A private interment at Cape Canaveral Veteran’s Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
