She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, fun and adventure.
Pamela is survived by her two devoted daughters, Christine (Greg) and Vivienne, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Brett (Allyson), Erica (Jon), Brad (Maddie), Dani (Zach), Seb, and Nico. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to her dear little Paige. She was predeceased in January 2025 by her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, Peter Wraith.
Born on June 16th, 1931, in London, England, to Stanley and Kate King. Pamela grew up during WWII and spent many nights sleeping in a bomb shelter, sparking her love for adventure. In her earlier years music was her joy. She loved to sing, dance and play the piano. Her passion for music and dancing stayed with her throughout her life.
Raised in a loving London home, her father worked in retail, while her mother was a dedicated homemaker and talented seamstress. Pamela attended an all-girls grammar school in Golders Green, London, before entering the workforce as a photographer’s assistant, a job she loved.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, Peter, in Friern Barnet, London, beginning a long and beautiful journey together. At that time Peter served as a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, and their early years of marriage took them to live on the Isle of Wight, a picturesque island off England’s south coast.
Throughout their life together, Pamela eagerly embraced new adventures that came their way. Making homes in London, and Basildon, Essex, before relocating to New Providence, New Jersey, in 1968 for two years. Returning to the UK, they settled in Billericay and later in the charming village of Stock, Essex. In 2003, they crossed the “pond” once more, moving to San Diego, California, to be closer to their daughters. They finally settled in Winter Garden, Florida, in 2014 where Pamela enjoyed the warmth of family, neighbors and the beauty of nature.
Pamela was a dedicated homemaker and worked part-time, but her greatest joys came from caring for her family, traveling (which she did extensively), sewing, playing tennis, attending classes at the gym, trying her hand at golf, entertaining, tending to her flower garden … and writing humorous verse!
A talented dressmaker, she lovingly sewed many of her daughters’ clothes as they grew up, including Vivienne’s elegant wedding dress. She was an active member of the Ladies Circle (UK) and she enjoyed being part of a bowling league, a local Bunco group, and the San Diego Red Hat Society, embracing friendship, laughter, and community wherever she went.
Her later years in Winter Garden brought her immense happiness. She loved watching the birds and wildlife from her home on the lake, enjoying breathtaking sunsets, and spoiling her "Grand-Dogs" with tea and biscuits during their visits each afternoon.
Pamela will be fondly remembered for her warmth, sharp wit, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She approached life with an infectious positivity, finding joy in every moment and embracing each challenge with grace. Her kindness and laughter touched all who knew her, forging lifelong friendships wherever she went. Though she is no longer with us, her love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Until we share another Ginger Beer with you Mum, know that we will always love you and will forever cherish your memory.
A celebration of Pamela’s life will take place on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home in Winter Garden, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Pamela’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital a cause that was very close to her heart.
