Sam, I met you through Dee Dee, my wife, I loved you immediately and was honored to be accepted as your friend. You had such a genuine loving soul and peaceful demeanor. I'm sure whoever came in contact with you was a better person for it.

You have made such an impression on all of us, we immediately feel a large hole in our world without you being here.

May you rest in peace,

Paul

Dear Sam,
To me you were friend above all else.
Sam you had a tender heart as big as the sky, thank you for being a gentle, loving kindhearted spirit. Thank you for always having a way to make me feel special, by sharing songs when you had memories come to mind. And tshirts would be given which was such a kind gesture. Thank you for your beautiful smile and sweet blue eyes which clearly were windows to your soul. Sam you were a joy spreader 💙 I will always love and remember you..,
The world’s died a little since you left Sam💙

Sammy and I had known one another since Jr. High & High School.
He always had a smile on his face and strong arms with which he would embrace you if you were lucky enough to have him as a friend. Aside from a few brief chats at 1 or 2 Edgewater reunions; we lost touch with one another for a few years. One day while I was working at Bloomies; a figure begins walking toward me. The face - to me had barely changed. With the ear to ear smile and that confident swagger. I ran up to him and shouted out his name. He picked me up and gave me the greatest bear hug you could ever imagine. He told me he was scouting out the joint as he and his wife, Mindy were going to Viet Nam and he needed some new clothes. About a week later I had the pleasure of meeting Mindy; the love of his life. As sweet as she could be. He visited me at Bloomies a few more times; just because he was in the general area. I find it so hard to believe that he is gone. To Mindy, the rest of his family and his cats; I offer all of you my deepest condolences. I hope to relay them in person at whatever gathering you may be holding in his honor. Sammy Steele - one of the greats!!!

Mindy, I’ve known Sam most of my life, even before he knew you. He always treated me with respect and genuine interest, not just writing me off as the “little sister”. Even though I haven’t seen him for several years, I have always adored him. He was always a big bear of kindness, happiness, and caring. He used to pick me up when I was younger. He gave me big bear hugs.
Mindy, please accept my sincerest condolences. You’re in my thoughts.
With love,
Julie Berk

I've just found out about this through a friend; half a dozen of us, all former Edgewater classmates, shared how highly we thought of Sammie. To all of his family, you have my deepest condolences. Sammie was simply a guy you wanted around, and he is gone much too soon.

So long pardsey

Farewell Sam Steele. I don’t want believe this news of his passing. I’m sure this strikes deep in all of who knew him. Sam was infectious and, one of the good guys. I remember riding bicycles to Edgewater’s young life with Sam on a few Wednesday nights in ‘73 and, the many times we spent in our blended neighborhood during the last years of high school. So fortunate that all our paths crossed in those times, our salad days. We had so much fun and so many laughs. While at college Sam used to visit me at USF in Tampa when he was driving for Hughes supply. You and Scotty D, both gone too soon. Thanks for all the laughs my friend and, rest in peace brother man!

I’m a childhood friend who lived “two streets over” in the Orwin Manor neighborhood. We went to school together and played at what is now the little park at Orange Ave. and Berkshire. Our paths would occasionally cross as adults and I always enjoyed any time with him.
Probably my favorite memory is when our 4th grade class got a Lowery organ and we all learned to play as part of our school day. I took to it, my parents bought an organ for our home, and Sam’s family had one as well. Lot’s of fun which started us both on a music loving journey.
Our condolences to Mindy and Sam’s family. He was a great guy.

Sam was a good friend & great golf partner. He & I had a few mutual friends from Oak Ridge HS.
Sam will be thought of fondly very often & he will be missed every day.
May God Rest His Wonderful Soul

I am that niece he took to a music festival, and I’m forever grateful for a loving, generous, hilarious uncle like him. It’s been almost 30 years since that festival, and I still remember how much it meant to me that he cared enough to take me to Lilith Fair. We are so sad he’s gone too soon and will miss him forever.

We will miss you! Next forget how good you were to us! Rest in Peace Sammy Kim and Dawit

To Mindy and all of Sam’s family.
My deepest condolences 💐 to you.
I worked with Sam at Rexel for many years.
Mindy, I remember the picture Sam kept on his desk of you sitting by the pool. It was evident how much he loved you by the way he spoke about you.
Sam was always so kind and cheerful when he came in. When Sam learned that I loved Santa Clauses almost every December I would find a new Santa on my desk. I will forever cherish them.
May Sam rest in peace and his family know that Sam was loved by many friends.
God bless
Cheryl Vosges
