Samuel Steele

Son of Ned and Florence Steele, Sam grew up in Orlando, graduated from Edgewater High School and had a long career with Rexel Electric Supply. In the 1980’s he met the love of his life, Mindy Burnett, at Dubsdread. He often shared how grateful he was for the love they shared. They married in 1986 and shared four wonderful decades together filled with travel, great times with family and friends, and relaxing times at home -- always with their beloved cats by their side.

Sam was an exceptionally talented golfer who, in his younger years, aspired to become a professional. He won the Orlando City Amateur Championship, as well as club championships at West Orange Country Club and Orange Tree Golf Club. He also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational Pro-Am several times, along with many other tournaments. Golf was a lifelong source of joy for him and many of his most memorable days were spent on the course in the company of good friends.

Sam had a huge heart and cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel special and positively impacted the lives of everyone he met. He had a profound love of music and was passionate about sharing it in a way that lifted everyone’s spirits -- whether writing a heartfelt poem for his beloved wife, taking a niece to a music festival, giving away a t-shirt from his massive collection or posting a feel-good song to help someone get through the day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Florence Steele, and his big brother Bob. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Mindy, his sister Carla and brother Nick, 10 nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Sam’s quick wit, positive energy and enormous heart touched the lives of so many. His love, laughter and generous spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
