My brother...where to start??? Looking back I realized Shawn was more of my sidekick growing up (or I was his) than I realized. When I was hungry he used to feed me. My Uncle Jack would dress up as Santa Claus at Christmas and Shawn's job was to keep me in bed until just the right time and then "sneak" me downstairs to "catch" Santa by the tree. He was so upset when I finally found out Santa wasnt real. Shawn and I used to ride a motorcycle frequently (I as his passenger) and we would go to the family farm to visit relatives. I was always his tagalong for dates and movies. I watched him dance and sing in Show Choir and he played a silver trumpet (very well). We laughed, loved, and sometimes fought our way to adulthood. I watched him go off to Desert Storm and then reenlist. He moved to Florida, and I am sad to say we rarely saw each other or spoke much after that. Of course if we had known how short his life would be I am sure we both would have tried harder to remain as close as we always used to be. I love my brother with all my heart and I am so proud of his life. He was a good man. He is missed. I pray to see him again in Heaven where I am sure he is swapping war stories with his ancestors and hanging out with our Mom. Love you Bro. I felt kindof silly but I was unable to attend your funeral for reasons I am sure you know, but I had to do SOMETHING. So at 1330 Military Time I stood under a flag at attention in Ashland Kentucky at a rest area for almost 30 minutes while you were being laid to rest in Florida. I just wanted to honor your life and I wanted you to see. I love you. I am proud of you. I hope you saw. Love, from your sister, Ginger

I had the blessed opportunity to get to know Shawn as my new next door neighbor this past year. He was a man of generosity - always willing to help. The love he had for his family was so evident, and my heart, thoughts, and prayers are with Julie, Eryn and the rest of the family.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Shawn's passing. We shared time working together at one of the best places, with some of my most favorite people in one of the best times of my life. Shawn had a very memorable, genuine laugh which I can hear as I remember him now. My family and I will be praying that God brings comfort and peace to Julie and Eryn and all of his family. Sincerest condolences.

Shawn was one of my favorite employees at Schwab and he used to drive me crazy with his craziness. He was a top notch performer and teammate and I am proud to call him friend. After Schwab Shawn was commissioned in the US Army and I was proud to call him sir, and a brother in arms. Shawn was smart and funny, and I know he is going to be missed by hundreds if not thousands.
Thank you, sir.
Salute!

Shawn was more than just a fellow parent, (our daughters go to school together and play volleyball) he was my friend. I’ve known Shawn about 8 years and he really was a great guy, the type of man that would do anything for anyone without asking for a thing in return. He didn’t mince words and was vocal in his opinion, and coaching his daughter Eryn, I know 1st hand! One of the best days of my life was spent with Shawn...since I was a kid my favorite band was Guns N Roses, unfortunately they broke apart in the 90’s and I wanted more than anything to see them live. Well, 2 years ago they made a surprise announcement they’d be touring and Shawn jumped at the chance to go with me! What a great night, a memory I’ll have forever. The last time I saw Shawn our kids were at a volleyball camp at Bishop Moore, I saw him walking down a long dark hallway heading towards a door, I stopped just for a second to see where he was going, he opened the door and an extraordinarily bright light came shining in, he turned and waived goodbye. I’d like to think that was foreshadowing of where he is now. The world lost a really good man this week. Rest In Peace my friend.

I went to high school with Shawn and we were both members of our marching band. I remember him being such a nice guy and always laughing and having fun. I have enjoyed catching up with him via Facebook. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Sending lots of comforting thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for his service and sacrifices for our country! God Bless.
