Shiela Anne Nicholson Vannieuwenhuyze of Ocoee, Florida passed away on September 22, 2014. She was born to the late John and Jeanette Thomson in Dumfries, Scotland on August 8, 1947. Shiela was trained as a nurse in Glasgow, Scotland, becoming the youngest Sister Midwife in Scotland at the age of 28. She moved to Saudi Arabia in 1972 on her own to serve as a Midwife. It was there that she met her late husband Charles "Chuck" Vannieuwenhuyze and the two were married on New Year’s Eve in 1976 in Jordan. After they married, Shiela and Chuck spent time in Iran and later had to leave and went to Egypt for a short period of time. In the early 80s, Shiela and Chuck moved to Pennsylvania and later lived in Louisiana and then Florida in the early 2000s. While living in Florida, Shiela began to pursue an interest in taxes and sewing and crafting. These interests led to Shiela working for H&R Block and Viking Sewing while continuing as a volunteer at Health Central. Following a long illness, Chuck passed away on January 1, 2009. Shiela was very professional at her jobs with H&R Block and Viking Sewing Gallery and was highly respected by her clients and co-workers. She combined her teaching and technical skills to provide ongoing education to her clients at Viking. Among her many interests, Shiela also had a passion for sewing, skiing, playing field hockey, and her love for cats. Shiela leaves behind an impact on many that she deeply touched and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Shiela is survived by her twin sister, Sandra Fleming and her husband Jim, her niece Kate, her nephew Tom, her grandniece Aria all in the UK; and many close and loving friends from her professional and private life. A Gathering of Celebration for Shiela's life will begin at 9am on Friday, September 26 at Baldwin Fairchild Winter Garden, 428 E Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787 with a Memorial Service beginning at 9:30am. Arrangements are under the care of Baldwin Fairchild Winter Garden, (407) 656-2233.
