Sidney Louis Coffey Jr.

June 29, 1931 – March 18, 2026
Obituary of Sidney Louis Coffey Jr.
IN THE CARE OF

Baldwin-Fairchild Winter Garden Funeral Home

Sidney Louis Coffey Jr, a devoted family man and decorated 30-year veteran of both the US Navy and US Air Force, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the age of 94.

Born on June 29, 1931, to Aquilla Hunt Coffey and Sidney Louis Coffey Sr, Sidney felt the call to service early. He enlisted in the US Navy at the tender age of 17 with his parents' permission. Four years later he transferred his service to the US Air Force. For three decades he embodied the values of loyalty, duty, and honor in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and in the years that followed.

Throughout his distinguished career, Sidney attained the highest rank of an enlisted service member, Chief Master Sergeant (CMSGT). Those who knew him best knew he did not serve for accolades; he served for his country.

Sidney had a 2nd career with hotel air conditioning maintenance. He enjoyed his favorite hobby - playing golf - and spending time with his family. He brought his signature discipline and humor to everything he did.

He is survived by two of his children, Michael Dennis Coffey (Sharon Denise), and Lori Ann Gallagher (Patrick), his four grandchildren, Kevin Lee Coffey (Denissa), Kara Lynn Martin (Kevin), Katie Annette Pait (David), Alyssa Lindsay Gallagher, seven great grandchildren: Zachary James Miller (Rachel), Joseph Michael Coffey, Lena Victoria Martin, Gabriel Angel Coffey, Addison Shae Martin, Walker Allen Sidney Pait, Jones Patrick Lee Pait; and two great great grandchildren: Scarlett James Miller, and Margot Renee Miller, and his sister Dorothy Jones of North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Carolyn Wanda Coffey, and their son, Charles "Pete" Richard Coffey.

A private family service with full military honors will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL on April 6th, 2026.

Sidney leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service, and love that will be honored forever. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
