Sylvia Elizabeth Williamson Connell returned to her Heavenly Father suddenly from a stroke on March 6th, 2021. She was born April 8, 1936 in Inverness, FL and grew up in Perry, GA graduating from Perry High School. She graduated from Shorter College in 1958 and taught school one year in Conyers, GA. She moved to Orlando, FL after marrying the love of her life, Milton Connell in 1959. She was a loving wife and mother. She worked for the Orange County Public School System for 44 Years. She predominantly taught English but also taught other subjects when needed. She was a tough, but caring teacher. Frequently, she worked as yearbook and newspaper sponsor at Cherokee Jr. High. She was an avid reader. Her love of reading and helping others reach their goals made her a great teacher. Throughout her life, she always looked out for people that looked like they needed a smile and a hug. Everywhere she went, she would readily, unofficially adopt people she thought needed someone to care about them and would often do small things to try and make their lives happier. She was married to her husband for 58 years before he passed away in 2017. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband James M. Connell Jr., her parents, D.N. “Red” and Vanita Williamson, and her brothers Nix Allensworth Williamson and George Van Williamson. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sara Beth Connell, Winter Garden FL and her sister, Sara W. Carr, Perry GA.
