William Kitner “Bill” Whitmire of Ocoee, Florida passed away at the age of 79 on August 11, 2016. Bill was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 16, 1936. A graduate of Auburn University, Bill worked in the aerospace industry with 30 years employment with Lockheed/Martin. A graduate of the Navy’s Officer Candidate School, Bill proudly served his country during the Vietnam War on the USS Okinawa. He enjoyed boating and fishing, spending many happy hours on the Florida waters. Bill is survived by Merrilie, his loving wife of 48 years; son, Billy; brother, James Ronald “Ronnie” Whitmire and sister, Vicki Brand both of Tallahassee; cousins and many, many friends. Memorial service at First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden 125 North Lakeview Avenue, Winter Garden, Fl. 34787, Saturday, August 20, 2016, 2:00 pm.
