Alice C. Turynowicz

Alice C. (Cadigan) Turynowicz, age 94, of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Turynowicz, and by her parents Alice (Collins) and Timothy Cadigan. She is survived by her two children, Steven Turynowicz (Peggy) and Nancy Kormann (David); her grandchildren, Matthew Kormann (Danielle) and Emily Kormann-Astaldi (Gherardo); and two great-grandchildren.

Alice was born in Boston, MA, and raised in Winthrop, MA. She graduated from Winthrop High School. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper in offices throughout the Boston area. She often said her favorite job was working in the accounting offices of Fulham Brothers Fish Market in Boston.

Alice and her husband were married for 64 years. For decades, they lived in Quincy, MA, where they raised their children and were active members of St. John’s Catholic Church. When Tom was transferred for business purposes, they moved to Syracuse, NY, and eventually retired to Stuart, FL, to enjoy sunny warm weather and the beach. Recently, Alice moved to Lakeland, FL, to be closer to family.

When her children were young, Alice was active in Girl Scouting and served as a troop leader in Quincy for several years. After retirement, Alice enjoyed herself as a member of the Red Hat Society and while golfing with friends at the Heritage Ridge Golf Course and the Myles Grant Country Club. For a few years, Alice participated in the Martin County Senior Games. Alice and Tom traveled extensively during their retirement years, but she loved nothing more than spending time with family. Alice will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A visitation for Alice will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven, Florida with a funeral mass to begin at 11:30 AM. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, Florida.
