Donceal Strickland

He was born August 27, 1921 in Geneva, AL. He was a Provost Sergeant in the Army during WWII on the 234th Hospital Ship Camp. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he came to Winter Haven and was employed with the Winter Haven Police Department. In 1951 he went to work for the Tampa Electric Company. He retired in 1989 after 39 years.

Don is preceded in death by his loving wife Dot Strickland, a brother Aubrey Strickland and sisters Lucille Yarbrough and Maurine McDuffy. He is survived by his daughter Renee Braddy and Son-In-Law Ron. He is also survived by his granddaughter Mariah Renee Braddy, all of Auburndale, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Don was a member of the Optimist Club for 63 years, the American Legion for 70 years and the Winter Haven Moose Lodge #186. He was a Mason for over 65 years, Charter Member of the Bahia Shrine Temple in Orlando. He was a 33 degree Mason.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Grace Lutheran Church, 327 Avenue C SE, Winter Haven with Rev. Charles T. Reich officiating. The visitation is Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 6-8pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Entombment will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Auburndale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
