Lake Wales – Doris Elizabeth “Betty” Sykes, age 83, of Lake Wales, FL died Wednesday, July 18, 2012. She was born February 6, 1929 in Cambridge, OH the daughter of George Casey and Lilly (Pezan) Casey. She was a homemaker and member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. She enjoyed painting, baking, and riding on the back of husband Charles’ Suzkie Trike.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband; David Peterson in 2004. She is survived by her husband; of 4 years, 8 months, Charles Sykes of Lake Wales, sons; Michael Peterson (Carol) of Solvang, CA, Marc Peterson (Alice) of Griffin, GA, and Fred Peterson of Boise, ID, daughters; Janice Peterson of Columbus, OH, Marsha McGee (David) of Columbus, OH, Lois Sanders (Arthur) of Columbus, OH, Linda Mastenbrook (Neil) of Gahanna, OH, and Sandra Melton (Joseph) of Hogansville, GA, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 6-8pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 W. Central Avenue, Winter Haven, FL. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11:00am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 221 S. 4th Street, Lake Wales, FL.
