Edgar R. Birky, 93 of Winter Haven, Florida went to be with The Lord on September 10, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1925 in Delavan, Illinois. Edgar graduated Hopedale High School in Hopedale, Illinois. He served honorably in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Edgar moved to Florida in 1947 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida. He worked as a traffic manager for Coca-Cola Foods (Minute Maid) Frozen Concentrated and Non-Refrigerated Drinks. Edgar was the past secretary of Coca-Cola Grads of Central Florida, past president of Minco Employees Federal Credit Union, former member of Growers and Shippers League of Florida, past president of Central Florida Traffic Club Orlando, and served as an Elder with Hope Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven.
Edgar was preceded in death by his wife, Belva Birky, parents, Christian and Mary Birky, son, Kevin Birky, sister, Lila Zumwalt, and brothers, Warren and Marvin Birky. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Ardito of Winter Haven, Florida and Pamela Birky of Winter Haven, Florida, son, Brian Birky of Lakeland, Florida, brother, Carrol Birky of Denver Colorado, and many other loving family members.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven, Florida. A memorial service will be held during the church service at Hope Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, Florida on Sunday, September 16, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Presbyterian Church.
