

Police Chief
WINTER HAVEN - Edward F. Himmelsbach, 81, passed away December 27, 2014, surrounded by his family. Edward was born in Millville, NJ, on April 11, 1933. After graduating from high school, he served his country as a PROUD Marine. After his service, Ed began his career as a patrolman in Ocean City, NJ. In 1967, he moved his family to Florida to continue his career in police work. Moving through the ranks, Ed attained the position of Police Chief in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Due to his hard work and dedication to his career, he was then honored to attend the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. He retired in 1998 after 36 years in law enforcement. He had the pleasure of moving to Winter Haven to enjoy life playing golf at Four Lakes Golf Club.
He is preceded in death of his son, Edward F. Himmelsbach, Jr. Survived by his wife, Leona of 56 years, daughters, Tammy (David) Ganzel, Seneca, SC, Holly (Austin) Beer, Jupiter, FL, grandchildren David, Jr., Tyler, Brent and Brittany, sister, Paulette (Tim) Bruner, Millville, NJ.
He was a member of Palm Beach County PBA, American Legion Post 8, Blue Knights, Winter Haven, and Four Lakes Veteran Association, and a former member of Four Lakes Golf Association.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 11 am at Four Lakes Club House.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
