Edwin David Alexander

Edwin David Alexander, 79, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Winter Haven, FL. He was born on August 2, 1935 in Bristol, CT to David and Eleanor Hess Alexander. Edwin served three years in the US Army. He moved to this area in 1973 and worked at the Bartow Air Base in maintenance for 17 years. His favorite hobbies were working on lawn equipment and going dancing to country music.

Edwin was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Blanche Grozik, both of Terryville, CT. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Huxley Alexander; sons: Thomas (Sylvia) Silvernail of Winter Haven, FL, Edwin,JR Alexander of Bartow, and David (Karen) Alexander of Winter Haven, FL; brothers: Roland of Plymouth, CT and David of Meriden, CT; sisters: Irene Eldred of Bristol, CT, Leona Eldred of Meriden, CT, Harriet Hosford, Waterbury, CT, and Geraldine Russ of Griffin, GA; seven grandchildren: Jillian Silvernail of Concord, NC, Renee Whitehead of Bartow, FL, Kirsten Kennedy of Fort Riley, KS, Caylyn McDowell of Lakeland, FL, Heath Alexander of Alma,GA, and Emily and Rebecca Alexander of Winter Haven, FL; and five great grandchildren: Alexis and Bailey Whitehead of Bartow, FL, Eli and Easton Kennedy of Fort Riley, KS, and Linleigh McDowell of Lakeland, FL.

A celebration of Edwin's life will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 6 to 8 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL.
