Winter Haven-Gilbert Wallace, January 31, 1928-February 17, 2012. As a result of a stroke, Gilbert passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital with family members by his side. He was born and raised in Winter Haven, FL and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired firefighter that served both the Bartow Airbase and Winter Haven Fire Departments.

Gilbert was a kind, hard working and devoted father. He was one of four children born to the late Ed and Zee Wallace. He was also preceded in death by a brother Ed and sister Mildred. Gilbert will forever be remembered by his devoted children:Steve Wallace(Felicity), Arab, AL, Tony Wallace (Denise), Oviedo, FL, Ron Wallace, Gibsonton, FL, Marie Wujastyk, Eustis, FL, and Teri Knowlton (Kevin), Winter Haven, FL, brother: Sam Wallace (Fleta), Auburndale, FL, sister-in-law: Ouida Wallace, Venice, FL, 10 loving grandchildren and 4 treasured great-grandchildren, along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Tampa General Hospital for their warm and graceful care. Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home @ Glen Abbey, 2198 K-Ville Avenue, Auburndale, FL, from 4-6pm Sunday and Funeral Services Monday at 11am at the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens.
