

Glenn Laird Swineford, 91, of Winter Haven, FL passed away on June 14, 2015. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Astoria Health and Rehabilitation Center for taking loving care of Glenn for the past 4 ½ years. . He spent his last few days at The George C. Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale, FL. He was born on March 11, 1924 in Akron, Ohio. As a child, Glenn spent summers at 26 Foster Avenue, Chautauqua, NY with his sister, Merle (Swineford) Dilley and his Grandmother Izetta Wild and was a member of the Boys’ Club and later was a counselor at Chautauqua Boys' Club. He loved boating, sailing and water skiing.
After graduating from University High School in Columbus, Ohio, he enlisted in the Navy. He continued his education at The Ohio State University, where he studied Industrial Arts and spent some years teaching Industrial Arts. He moved to Winter Haven, FL in the 1950's where he was a manufacturer's representative for a small roadway construction equipment company. He was a long standing member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven.
He is survived by his two nephews, John (Marilyn) Dilley and Robert (Cheryl) Dilley; grandnephew Christopher and grandniece Jennifer Dilley. He will be remembered at his church in Winter Haven, Hope Presbyterian church on Sunday, June 21, 2015. Later, a memorial service will be held in Chautauqua, NY.
