

Hazel was born on May 5, 1933, in Norton, Virginia, but made Florida her home for over 70 years and built a life centered on faith, family and service to others.
Hazel experienced the loss of her husband at the young age of 40. She devoted herself to raising her children and providing them with a foundation of faith and family values that would endure for generations.
Throughout her working years, Hazel was employed in Florida's citrus industry and later found her calling as a home health nurse. She deeply loved caring for others and brought comfort, compassion, and companionship to countless people. Her warm spirit, generous heart, and wonderful sense of humor made her a joy to be around. Hazel had a special gift for making people laugh and helping them feel loved and valued.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was devoted to her church and found great fulfillment in worship, fellowship, and serving others. Above all else, Hazel cherished her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
She will be remembered for her loving nature, selfless spirit, steadfast faith, and the laughter and joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy of kindness, perseverance, and devotion to family will continue to live on.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children, Carolyn Odeneal of Winter Haven, Florida, Glenda Fields of Winter Haven, Florida, Betty Kirby of Winter Haven, Richard Owens of Winter Haven, Florida, Florida, Kathy Pitts of Alturas, Florida, Barbara Thompson of Wahneta, Florida, and Rocky Owens of Brazil, Indiana. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen Allen Owens and two children, Russell Owens of Winter Haven, Florida, and Ronnie Owens of Wahneta, Florida.
A visitation will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 West Central Ave, Winter Haven, Florida 33880, on June 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A graveside service will take place at Lakeside Memorial Park 2450 US Highway 17 North, Winter Haven, Florida 33881, on June 9, 2026, at 9:00 am
In lieu of flowers, it was Hazel's wish for donations to be directed to her church, Wahneta Tabernacle of Praise, PO Box 163, Winter Haven, Florida 33880.
