James "Jim" R. Grizzelle

James Robert Grizzelle "Jim" passed peacefully on August 2nd 2018 under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice, at Brandywine nursing home. Born on February 14th, 1940 to John and Irene (Casey) Grizzelle in Covington, Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his daughters, Vonda Grizzelle in November 2003 and Brenda Grizzelle Eggers in May 2018. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene, daughter Marla (James) Miller, grand daughter Sarah Miller, honorary daughter, Tammy Board, and fur baby, Jill. Dad spent most of his working years as an automobile mechanic. His trade worked hand in hand with is hobby, building race cars. He started with rail dragsters and eventually moved to round track racing. He was a life-long NASCAR and NHRA fan. He loved country music and played a guitar for many years, another beloved hobby. Dad knew his time was drawing to an end and he was looking forward to being reunited with his girls and others who have gone before him. He was able to say his goodbyes here and mom and I will cherish the kisses and the “I love you’s.”

His service will be August 4th at 9am at Winter Haven Christian Church, where he was a member, by Preacher Jim Reed. He was loved and he will be missed.

Too many memories to share here, but the ones I remember most are when we went to Daytona to the races and Mike, my husband was not a beach fan, but Jim always made a point to take me to the beach. Sometimes it was so cold you had to wear a sweater, but my dear friend always thought enough of me to take me. Just one of the many, Thanks Jim. I miss you.
