Polk City - Jessie Evelyn Hood, age 87, of Polk City, FL passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Life Care Center of Winter Haven. She was born June 21, 1924 in Lauderdale, AL the daughter of George and Ortensia (Rhodes) Liles. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She moved to the Winter Haven area in 1980 from Cordele, GA.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband LV Hood (1992) and son James Hood. She is survived by her children Horace Hood of AL, LD Hood (Karen) of Wahneta, FL, RV Hood (June) of Tifton, GA, Doris Hall of Cordele, GA, Dorothy LeMay (Johnny) of Winter Haven, FL, Patsy Howorko (Vince) of TN, Peggy Bagwell (Richard) Polk City, FL, and Shirley Knight (Glenn) of Cordele, GA, twenty-six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 West Central Avenue, Winter Haven, FL. Funeral Services are Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow at Auburndale Memorial Park, Auburndale, FL.
