Joel Edward Giey

Joel Edward Giey, age 68, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 9, 2023. The first of four children, he was born May 3, 1955 and was the only son of the late Merlin "Mert" and Marie Giey (Pandrea) of Louisville, Ohio.

A master electrician and accomplished carpenter, Joel was the sole proprietor of Handi Giey, a business specializing in home repairs and remodeling. He was an avid racing fan and rarely missed the Daytona 500 or 12 Hours of Sebring. But his strongest ties were to his beloved mighty Gators football team - he bled orange and blue every game.

Joel was preceded in death by his sister Pamela Giey of Cocoa Beach, FL and brother-in-law Robert "Bobby" Westphal, DMD, of Winter Haven, FL. Mourning his passing are his sisters Karen Giey Westphal of Winter Haven, FL and Melanie Giey Kroll and husband Garin of Avon Lake, OH; daughter Heather Osbeck and granddaughter Hayley Osbeck; nieces Skye Westphal and Madeline Kroll Meehan and husband Greg Meehan; nephews Elliot Westphal and Dalton Kroll along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

His life partner, Manina Trank, is hosting a Celebration of Joel's life on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Al's Place, 1530 North Scenic Highway, Lake Wales, FL. Kickoff for the Florida-Georgia game is at 3:30 PM and on behalf of Joel.....GO GATORS!!
